I just dropped my iPhone in water – what do I do?

So, your phone is soaking and you don’t know what to do. First of all....

Step One - Turn it off…. Now!

Leave your phone in the container for a minimum of 10 hours. It is highly recommended that you give the phone 2 or 3 days to absorb all of the water. This may be annoying, but it is the most likely way you will ever get to use your expensive phone again. If you really need a phone, then borrow a friends phone, or buy one for €30 in your local shop.

Warranty - The warranty of your phone is most likely going to be void because of the dampness. Most new phones have a tab inside them that change colour when they are exposed to water. Once they change colour they are automatically out of warranty.

Dirt – Did you drop your phone in clean water? Most likely it was dirty water. This means that you could have small bits of dirt or grit in your phone. This grit can cause blockages for your phone, causing it other types of problems.
